Smart film training questions

Direct answers for applicants.

Course attendance, Approved Installer status and commercial partnership are related but separate stages. These answers set out the current PriviFilm Academy position plainly.

For detailed background, read the UK smart film installer training guide.
01

What does PriviFilm installer training cover?

+

PriviFilm installer training covers practical PDLC film handling, glazing assessment, glass preparation, dry application, connection and control-system boundaries, testing, fault recognition, finishing and customer handover.

02

Who is the smart film installer course for?

+

The course is for established window film, glazing, commercial fit-out, electrical, AV and related installation businesses seeking to add the PriviFilm system to their services.

03

Where is the training held and how long is it?

+

Training is delivered as a full-day practical course at Forti Nova, Unit 1–3 Bridgewater Business Park, Gladstone Street, Blackburn BB1 3EU. Each course is limited to six people. The November course is full; the next available date is 21 January 2027.

04

Does completing the course make me an Approved Installer?

+

No. Course attendance begins the provisional stage. The first three PriviFilm installations are reviewed using project registration and completion evidence before Approved Installer status is confirmed in writing.

05

Does smart film training qualify me to carry out electrical work?

+

No. The course explains the PriviFilm system, low-voltage components, planning and testing boundaries, but it does not replace the competence required for mains electrical work or site certification.

06

Does approval guarantee leads or a protected region?

+

No. Suitable opportunities may be offered according to geography, capability and availability. Lead volumes, exclusivity and any Regional Partner appointment require separate written terms and are never automatic.

07

How much is the PriviFilm Academy and how do I secure a place?

+

The Academy fee is £1,750 + VAT. A 25% deposit secures an accepted place, with the remaining balance handled under the booking terms. The downloadable prospectus explains what is included and how training, provisional status and approval fit together.

08

Do I need previous PDLC experience?

+

Previous PDLC experience is not essential, but applicants should be established trade businesses with relevant practical capability, appropriate insurance and professional working standards.
